Morning Releases:
After the French Bank holiday at the end of last week, the En Primeur campaign returns this morning with several notable releases.

Headlining the bill is La Conseillante - £640 per 12.  Situated at the heart of the plateau this is a serious and structured Pomerol. Much cheaper than neighbouring Evangile £860, at £640 per case the price seems fair - also £100 less than the 2008 vintage currently - and with good scores across the board.

In Saint Emilion, Clos Fourtet - £490 per 12.  This really stood out for us this year:  Mineral and floral, this is a beauty that perfectly illustrates its terroir of deep limestone, just outside the famous medieval walls.  Stunning, elegant and distinctive. Our pick of the Saint Emilions at this crowded price level.

Figeac - £575 per 12.  This was also pretty impressive this year. A new management team is now in place with Michel Rolland hired as consultant winemaker.  A new approach is already beginning to pay dividends to unlock the potential here.

Lascombes - £410 - One of the richer more modern Margaux, and very popular in Asia.  We can also offer its second wine Chevalier de Lascombes at £155 per case

Phelan Segur - £220.  A Saint Estephe estate to watch.

Afternoon Releases:
This afternoon we have two of our customers favourite En Primeur wines released  - Grand Puy Lacoste at £370 and Haut Batailley at £220. Both provide classical Pauillac drinking at a reasonable price.

In Graves we can now offer Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge at £440 and the Blanc at £570. James Suckling scores them both a very impressive 95-96 points making the red his equal top scoring Graves along with First Growth  Haut Brion and the white second only to Haut Brion Blanc.

Also released from Graves are Carbonnieux Rouge and Carbonnieux Blanc which are both offered at £190 per case.
