Tasting Notes

Aromas of cooked apples, lemons and stones. Full body, tangy acidity and a grapefruit aftertaste. Lively and fresh.

Score: 92 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 13 February 2017

Lots of sliced apple and pear character with a full body, fresh fruits and a tangy finish. Shows such balance and beauty already.

The Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2014 has a pretty nose in the making: precise apple blossom and blackcurrant leaf aromas that gently waft from the glass. The palate is crisp on the entry, the acidity not as shrill as some of its peers, thus rendering it a more "languid" Pessac-Léognan. There is already a very elegant, gravelly finish that lingers in the mouth - a very promising Carbonnieux Blanc that may merit a higher score after bottling.

A vibrant, energetic white, the 2014 Carbonnieux Blanc offers plenty of appeal. Lime, slate, crushed rocks and sage add nuance on the pulsating finish. The 2014 lacks a bit of mid-palate depth, but it is otherwise very pretty.

Interesting fermented lemon-candy nose. Racy and mineral with a very appetising dry finish and not too much tartness. Confident and refined.

Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2017-2027 Date: 01 April 2015

An herb-driven style, with thyme, chive and white asparagus notes racing along, flecked with lime zest through the finish. A tasty wine in the making.
