Red Bordeaux
MOUTON ROTHSCHILD - £2470 per case/12 IB. Demand for Mouton Rothschild remains strong and the 2013 is now released 15% cheaper than any physical vintage.
"The Grand Vin is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the latter close to exceptional according to Philippe Dhalluin. It has less new oak (85%) because the new wooden vats impart their own raw woody character. It has a well-defined, classic bouquet that you might describe as "no frills". It does not have the usual Mouton flamboyance although that is not necessarily a bad thing. The palate is well balanced with clean and mineral-rich black fruit and a pleasant salty character towards the finish. Classic in style, this is a very fine Mouton with real panache." 92-94 Neal Martin
PETIT MOUTON - £740 per case/12 IB.
"The Le Petit Mouton has a huge majority of Cabernet Sauvignon at 93% - the highest percentage ever. The nose is quite floral and Margaux-like in style, simple but perfumed. The palate is crisp and structured on the entry with plenty of graphite-infused black fruit originating from the Cabernet, with a touch of dried blood towards the finish. This is a knockout wine from Philippe Dhalluin - real character and panache here." 90-92 Neal Martin
ARMAILHAC - £250 per case/12 IB.
"Fine purple-red, fragrant nose, expressive and even exuberant, a Pauillac with charm and good tannins for the future." 90 Decanter
CLERC MILON - £330 per case/12 IB.
"A light toasty note sits atop the plum and currant fruit for now, with alder and juniper accents lining the slightly taut finish. Seems rather tight and backward today, featuring a plum skin edge that holds sway on the finish. Shows good stuffing for the vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenère." 89-92 James Molesworth, WS
ANGELUS - £1800 per case/12 IB.
"Sexy and elegant for the vintage. A blueberry, floral and citrus character on the nose and palate. Full body, with an impressive density for the vintage and a pretty, bright finish. Excellent length." 92-93 James Suckling
PAVIE - £1800 per case/12 IB.
"Deep, dark and reserved on the nose. Dark fruit nuances. Fine, fresh and structured. Terroir really comes through. Firm, long finish. Powerful but harmonious as well." 93 Decanter
PAVIE DECESSE - £830 per case/12 IB.
"Aromas of orange peel, minerals and chalk. So citrusy. Full to medium body, firm tannins and a silky texture. Fresh and clean. Juicy wine for the vintage. Love the salty, savory character. Harmonious." 92-93 James Suckling
MONBOUSQUET - £275 per case/12 IB.
"This has a fleshy core of raspberry and plum sauce flavors, integrated with the red licorice and fruitcake notes. Features ample toast on the finish but the stuffing is there. A solid effort for the vintage." 88-91 James Molesworth, WS
PALMER - £1650 per case/12 IB.
"This is very solid for the vintage with blackberry, dark chocolate and black currants. Full body, with firm and chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Muscular wine for the vintage. 51% cabernet sauvignon and 49% merlot. 3,800 cases of this wine compared to 9,000 in a normal year." 92-93 James Suckling
TALBOT - £290 per case/12 IB.
"A wine with blackberry with chocolate character. Full and juicy. Round delicious. Subtlety layered wine. Outstanding." 91-92 James Suckling
"Powerful, with intense apricot, tangerine and pineapple notes forming the core, all wrapped with toasted almond, shortbread and sweetened butter notes. Has loads in reserve, with serious cut still to fully show itself." 94-97 James Molesworth, WS
All wines are available in cases of 6 (pro rata) and halves, magnums and larger formats.
