Batailley

Today's releases include two midpriced Classed Growths which deserve serious attention:

Chateau Batailley is one of the oldest estates in the Medoc and offers proper Pauillac in a well-judged and understated style.  Following the recent introduction of a second wine, Batailley is now made only from the estate's finest fruit and shows greater intensity.  Well-priced and now one of the best values in the appellation.

Superbly situated with parcels adjacent to Latour, the two Pichons and close to Lynch Bages, Haut Bages Liberal deserves to be better known.  Great strides have been made here and Haut Bages Liberal is a lovely wine with fresh fruit to the fore, and is probably their best yet with a huge review from James Suckling (96-97).

Prices
