Tasting Notes

The 2013 Poujeaux has a light, herbaceous nose that is nicely defined but at the end of the day, just lacks vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannin, compact and rather attenuated, the finish skinny and needing more flesh. There is nothing terrible about this Poujeaux - just that it feels anonymous at the moment.

Score: 85 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2016-2021 Date: 28 October 2016

Soft, but with some depth to the plum and black cherry fruit, which is lined with black tea on the relatively supple finish

Score: 86 - 89 James Molesworth, Wine Spectator Date: 01 April 2014

Some berry and cocoa-powder character. Medium body, round tannins and a fresh finish.

Score: 87 - 88 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 01 April 2014

Ripe, juicy blackberry – sweet and modern and attractive. Just a touch of oak on the palate, well-balanced body and higher than expected tannins, especially on the finish. (16+)

Fine purple-red, ripe black fruits, good spicy richness and good finish.
