Tasting Notes

A seamless 2013 with an outstanding core of dark fruit and a mineral character. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish.

Score: 90 - 91 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 01 April 2014

The 2013 Lagrange is soft, supple and built for near-term drinking. Sweet red berries, flowers and a hint of spice inform the fruity finish.

Score: 84 - 87 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Date: 01 April 2014

Closed nose, very tough palate. Super-traditional style, very restrained and austere. Needs long ageing to resolve the tannins. (17+)

Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, Richard Hemming, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2023-2038 Date: 01 April 2014

Light purple-red, fine fragrance of Cabernet fruit and very good clarity, has fruit and grip for a good future.

Score: 90 Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2017-2028 Date: 01 April 2014

Lightish mid-ruby colour. A heady, floral-scented nose. Firm plummy fruit with moderate weight. Attractive with a soft fruit, crisp finish. Very easy drinking.

Score: 88 - 90 Albany Vintners, - Date: 01 April 2014

The Lagrange 2013 is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot picked between 30 September and 14 October with the last Petit Verdot vines (representing 40% of the total crop.) It sports considerable fruitiness on the nose with vibrant and pure red cherries, fresh strawberry and cedar that is well defined. The palate is well balanced with fine, perhaps slightly "stringy" tannins, but there is commendable precision towards the finish that deftly carries the oak. This is definitely one of the more assured Saint Julien wines of the year and should be well worth picking out if the price is right. Tasted March 2014.

Score: 89 - 91 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Date: 01 April 2014

High-pitched, with a floral hint giving way to red currant, Campari and damson plum notes. Offers a brisk, stony finish.
