Tasting Notes

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc and aged in 35% new oak, the Ferriere has a very pure bouquet that is so elegant and refined. The palate is very well balanced with a pleasant fleshy entry. It has an effervescent red fruit profile with hints of orange zest towards the bright, perky finish. I hope it is as delicious as this after bottling. Tasted April 2012.

Attractively fragrant fruit, very Margaux in style, but rather hollow on the palate.

Score: 15 - 16 Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2014-2020 Date: 16 April 2012

Deep cherry crimson. Sweet oak spice. Some vanilla but the clean dark and cherry fruit seeps round the edges. Firm, dry but rounded and well balanced by freshness. Cool and clear and well directed and more to come even though it is not a big wine. (JH)

Supple, with light iron and black tea hints weaving through the plum, black cherry and cassis flavors. A touch light in the end, but pretty.

Score: 87 - 90 James Molesworth, Wine Spectator Date: 11 April 2012

A wine with very good to outstanding fruit and ripe tannins that follow through to a medium to full body, with velvety tannins and a juicy finish.
