The 2024 La Chenade was picked on September 22 and September 28 for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc, respectively. It then matured in 52% new oak. Lovely blueberry and violet scents blossom on the nose, fresh and seductive in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, gentle grip, fine backbone and a subtle graphite note on the finish. This will be difficult to resist from the get-go. The 2024 La Chenade is gorgeous. Deep, pliant and textured, the 2024 has so much to offer Dark red fruit, mocha, espresso, lavender and licorice all meld together in a sumptuous, beautifully layered Lalande-de-Pomerol that hits all the right notes. Redcurrant, blueberry and white pepper, with gentle earthy notes. Less 'Pomerol-adjacent' than in some vintages, but this has charm, and a sense of precision and lift, 35hl/h yield after hail. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 La Chenade offers up aromas of pepper, pencil shavings, dark berries and licorice. Medium-bodied, structured and firm, it's layered with a good chassis of tannins built around tangy acids, concluding with a grippy, short finish.
