Tasting Notes

The 2022 La Tour Blanche sprints out of the block with hints of yellow plum, lanolin and stem ginger, though it all feels nicely controlled. The palate is very well balanced with a keen line of acidity that cuts through the thickly textured botrytised fruit. Marmalade and orange rind interlace the finish. It's very fine, reassuringly bold and expressive.

Concentrated and opulent, silky with clear mandarin and bitter orange peel that adds texture and focus to these super ripe apricot and preserved lemon flavours; good quality, 135g/l residual sugar, harvest October 24 to 29. Organic farming, low yields.

Score: 91 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2025-2032 Date: 05 February 2025

Lifted and very poised, the 2022 La Tour Blanche is a wine of subtlety and elegance more than anything else. White flowers, mint and light tangerine peel inflections all gather together in a weightless, airy Sauternes defined by its delicacy. Many Sauternes are more obvious, but few are as refined.

Score: 95 Antonio Galloni, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2052 Date: 28 January 2025

A layered Sauternes with phenolic seriousness and lovely sweetness. Light spiciness at the finish.
