The 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an open, finely delineated bouquet with yellow plum, saffron and hints of caramelized pear. The palate is very well balanced with ample weight and depth. The acidity keeps everything fresh, and there is a luxuriant quality toward the almond and peach-tinged finish. A hint of crème caramel lingers on the aftertaste. This is one of the best Sauternes this vintage.

I found the richness during En Primeur particularly marked with this estate, and my feeling is confirmed on this retaste - it is luscious and opulent, replete with apricot puree, quince, lemon posset, impressive and textural but a style that lacks the push and pull of acidity and bitterness than makes for a truly balanced Sauternes. Particularly important to serve this chilled.

The 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is bright and nicely focused. Citrus peel, grapefruit, white pepper and sage are some notes that grace this steely, crisp white.

Another mind-blowing Sauternes with dense and concentrated fruit, and incredible depth and power. Spices galore. Very sweet. 260 grams residual sugar. Twice the normal year. French TBA? 95% semillon and 5% sauvignon blanc.
