You can feel the structure and depth in the wine in this vintage, with Cabernet Franc doing the heavy lifting in terms of character and aromatics. Nuanced campfire and cold ash smoke, alongside concentrated blueberry and cassis, with graphite and peony. Nenin has an advantage in 2022 because it is always a little more serious and late ripening than some in Pomerol, with harvest September 1 to 23. 40% new oak. The 2022 Nénin has mustered a tad more restraint and composure than when tasted from barrel. I would not describe it as amazingly complex, though it channels a kind of classicism that I appreciate, more so than other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Thanks to the expressive Cabernet Franc (36%) and graphite-infused finish, it's quite Left Bank in style. Afford this a couple of years in bottle. The 2022 Nénin is laced with dark cherry, plum, new leather, incense and mocha. Pliant and creamy, with terrific balance, Nénin is a charmer. The 2022 offers outstanding depth and fine balance, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next 15-20 years. This is very nicely done. Ripe black cherries, red plums, spice, dried herbs, and chocolate all emerge from the 2022 Château Nenin, an incredibly ripe, sexy, full-bodied Pomerol revealing a broad, opulent mid-palate and velvety tannins. Based on 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Franc, this is another concentrated, inky-hued, powerful 2022 that's going to demand bottle age.
