Tasting Notes

This has the joy of 2022 with the depth of Moulin St Georges, salty, saline, oyster shell, juicy, crushed rocks, coffee, cocoa bean, liquorice, espresso, saffron and sage. 100% new oak. Harvest September 19 to 26. A buy, wonderful stuff from the team at Ausone.

Score: 95 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2028-2042 Date: 06 March 2025

The 2022 Moulin Saint-Georges has really opened up on the nose since tasting from barrel. It's plusher and opulent than it showed then, with layers of black cherry, cassis fruit, orange pith and glycerine. The palate is medium-bodied and velvety smooth, with lush tannins and a dash of cracked black pepper on the finish. There is structure and sapidity here. This is a stylish Moulin Saint-Georges that should age well.

Score: 92 Neal Martin, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2028-2045 Date: 12 February 2025

The 2022 Moulin Saint-Georges is a heady, deep wine. Blue-toned fruits, leather, licorice, mocha, spice and tobacco are all packed into the wine's mid-weight frame. Dense and quite potent, Moulin Saint-Georges will benefit from a few years in bottle, which will help it shed some baby fat.

Score: 92 Antonio Galloni, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2037 Date: 28 January 2025

Rocking Merlot notes of ripe black cherries, currants, smoked tobacco, and melted chocolate all emerge from the 2022 Château Moulin Saint Georges, a ripe, full-bodied, opulent, seamless 2020 based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has the density and structure of the vintage and will have 15-20 years of overall longevity.

Score: 93 - 95 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com Date: 05 October 2023

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries, violets and creamy new oak, the 2022 Moulin St Georges is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with powdery tannins and a taut, chalky profile. It should flesh out further with additional élevage.

Score: 90 - 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Date: 28 April 2023

Fresh and framed with a juiciness but also a coolness and brightness. Medium to full body. Very balanced. Well done. Lower pH at 3.52. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc.
