Silky tannins, not a word I am using often with this vintage (and one that I see only after tasting in bottle that I also used during the En Primeur tasting note). The emphasis is on blue fruits, black truffles, chamomile tea and bitter chocolate, with blueberry, cloves, liqourice root and rose petals, slender fruit structure but full of finesse and pleasure. September 23 to October 6 harvest, 50% new oak for ageing. Score: 95 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2044 Date: 26 March 2024 |

The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus is a very complete, satisfying wine. Its mid-weight structure makes the 2021 a fine candidate for near and medium-term drinking. Crushed flowers, lavender, black cherry, mocha and leather add a dark, brooding quality, but this remains a pretty understated vintage here. The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus left me a little perplexed from barrel—a potential "slipped catch" during a recent purple patch. The nose does little at the moment, missing a bit of vigor and revealing only touches of singed leather; maybe it’s even a bit farmyardy. The palate is better, with a smooth texture and fine tannins. Cohesive with licorice and hints of blue fruit, it seems determined to compensate for the aromatics and at least leave on a positive note. I'm still not convinced that it is a top tier La Fleur-Pétrus as it lacks length, but it will do. Score: 90 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2026-2040 Date: 22 February 2024 |

Very polished with fine tannins that finish intensely. It’s a medium-to full-bodied red with focus. Blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Hints of tobacco and nutmeg, too. Score: 95 - 96 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 01 May 2022 |

The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus is performing nicely, exhibiting aromas of plums, cherries, sweet soil tones, loamy soil and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless palate that's lively and charming. Classically proportioned and nicely balanced, if it takes on additional depth with élevage, I'd expect it to land at the upper end of my bracketed score. Unquestionably one of the standouts in the Moueix stable is the 2021 Château La Fleur-Petrus, a beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, elegant Pomerol that readers will love. Vivid purple in color with lots of cassis and darker berry fruits, it has classic Pomerol graphite, damp earth, and chalky minerality, some background oak, perfectly integrated tannins, and a great finish. It's already hard to resist and is going to drink nicely right out of the gate. Score: 94 - 96 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com Date: 06 February 2022 |
