The best estates have really worked the aromatics during ageing, recognising that the 2021s are less concentrated at their heart than many recent vintages. This is a great example, expressive and enticing, with spiced cloves and white pepper, campfire and crushed rocks, with plenty of raspberry and loganberry fruit that have a sense of springing back after the first sip. 48hl/h yields after no frost and very little mildew. 27% new oak. Score: 92 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2025-2038 Date: 02 April 2024 |

The 2021 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is laced with crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, spice and pipe tobacco. La Chappelle is quite floral and delicate in 2021. Its understated personality is quite charming. Bright acids on the finish are a reminder of the cool, rainy growing season. Score: 90 Antonio Galloni, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2024-2036 Date: 27 February 2024 |

The 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion has a capable bouquet, that same mélange of red and black fruit, hints of undergrowth and potpourri emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly edgy tannins, a fresh bead of acidity, a light sapidity and a cohesive finish. Enjoy it over the next six to ten years. Score: 89 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2025-2036 Date: 22 February 2024 |

Nicely firm and structured with a tight core of blackberry, stone and bark with some graphite. Grainy, firm tannins. Fresh and focused finish. 51.3% merlot, 45.2% cabernet sauvignon and 3.5% cabernet franc. Score: 93 - 94 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 16 May 2022 |

Lively, juicy and at this stage a little more open than Le Clarence. Acidity evident but not obtrusive. Delicate fruit weight but plenty of energy and drive, the tannins fine and integrated. Balanced. Could improve further if it fills out in the bottle. Score: 16 James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2026-2036 Date: 11 May 2022 |

Aromas of dark berries, rich spices, loamy soil and new oak introduce the 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming wine with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish. While it can't match the polish and elegant of La Clarence de Haut-Brion this year, it's a fine second wine. Score: 90 - 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Date: 29 April 2022 |

The 2021 La Chapelle De La Misson Haut-Brion checks in as a blend of 51.3% Merlot, 45.2% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc that hit 13.4% natural alcohol and is still resting in 27% new barrels. It has a terrific nose of bright cherries, framboise, spice box, and tobacco to go with a medium-bodied, elegant, juicy style on the palate. It's very much in the vintage and will drink nicely right out of the gate. Score: 89 - 91 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com Date: 06 February 2022 |
