Tasting Notes

The 2018 La Fleur de Boüard is very well defined on the nose, gorgeous scents of blackberry, blueberry, violet and potpourri bursting from the glass but retaining fine delineation and focus. The palate is crisp on the entry, with graphite-tinged black fruit framed by fine tannins and a structured, tensile finish. This is one of the best La Fleur de Boüard vintages that I have encountered. Excellent.

Always one of the gems in a vintage, the 2018 Château La Fleur De Boüard is a no-brainer purchase and has a ripe, medium to full-bodied, sexy style that carries lots of sweet cassis, spicy oak, flowers, and scorched earth-like aromas and flavors. With plenty of fruit, notable freshness and purity, and the vintage's elegant, seamless style front and center, it's already hard to resist, yet it will integrate its oak over the coming 3-4 years and shine over the following decade or more.

The 2018 La Fleur De Boüard is mostly Merlot but includes 12% Cabernet Franc and just a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. Blueberries, cassis, graphite, charcoal, and subtle oak notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, concentrated, beautifully balanced 2018 that has a terrific mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. I’d be happy to have bottles in the cellar.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Fleur de Boüard displays pronounced scents of baked blackberries, black cherry coulis and tilled soil with hints of kirsch, dried herbs and fungi. Medium to full-bodied with generous black fruits and a soft texture, it has just enough freshness and an earthy finish. The blend here is 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

There is clear quality here with ripe blackberry and loganberry fruits and sweet vanilla bean touch on the finish. It's approachable and will be ready to drink within a year or two.

This is very compact and tight with fantastic density that is really compressed. It gives a really creamy texture to the tannins and the blackberry, blueberry and walnut undertones.

A friendly, floral-accented style, with a rounded core of cherry and cassis flavors. A light mineral accent peeks in at the end.
