The 2017 du Tertre is a very pretty wine. Succulent red cherry, dried flowers, mint, blood orange and spice notes meld together in a pliant, mid-weight Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. This is an especially elegant vintage for a property that often leans towards a wilder style. The 2017 is one of the prettiest recent Tertres I can remember tasting. The 2017 du Tertre was bottled at the of end May 2019, estate director Alexandre van Beek mentioning that they are aiming for earlier bottlings. It has a perfumed bouquet with pressed rose petals and brown spices infusing the red berry fruit, perhaps a little more savory than its Margaux peers. The palate is medium-bodied with a splash of balsamic on the entry. Moderate depth, slightly coarse tannins with that balsamic note evident towards the finish. What is missing is some depth and flesh, though it may develop with time. Score: 88 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2021-2034 Date: 01 February 2020 |

Medium garnet-purple colored and composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2017 du Tertre gives expressive notes of black berries and cassis with pencil lead, bay leaves and lavender hints. The palate is medium-bodied with a good core of open-knit fruit and plush tannins lifted with great freshness, finishing on a perfumed note. Deep crimson with black core. Lifted, but not very expressive at first, then a definite graphite note and an inviting dusty quality. Savoury dark fruit on the palate but juicy and fresh at heart. Fine tannins already surprisingly silky. Just enough depth of fruit on the mid palate to balance the supple tannins. Touch of oak sweetness and toast on the finish. More immediate charm than the Ch Giscours tasted alongside, more friendly. Score: 16 - 17 Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2025-2037 Date: 25 April 2018 |

The 2017 Château du Tertre is a beauty. Possessing plenty of red, black, and blue fruits, spicy oak, medium body and ripe tannin, it’s going to need short-term cellaring to let the oak integrate but has loads to love. While Margaux didn’t hit the highs of Pauillac in the vintage, there are plenty charming wines from this appellation. Score: 89 - 91 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com Date: 23 April 2018 |

This is nicely done with currants, bright lemon and mineral character. Medium to full body, fine and silky tannins and a focused and vivid finish. Linear. Score: 91 - 92 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 06 April 2018 |

Bright and breezy in feel, with damson plum and bitter cherry fruit laced with light savory and thyme notes. Gently persistent acidity shows on the finish. Score: 88 - 91 James Molesworth, Wine Spectator Date: 04 April 2018 |

This is a little softer in expression than the intense delivery of the past two vintages, but still has extremely well-expressed red and black fruits, layered together with grilled coffee and almond notes. It has silky tannins and an injection of juice through the mid-palate. Classic Margaux character. Score: 91 Jane Anson, Decanter.com Maturity: 2025-2040 Date: 01 April 2018 |
