Tasting Notes

Strong, muscular 79% Cabernet fruit yet also floral with lots of flavour - ‘just what we are looking for’ says the winemaking team.

Fourth Growth Chateau Pouget is one of the smallest estates in the 1855 classification and probably the rarest, with just 4000 cases a year on average. Owned by the Guillemet family for over a hundred years, it is now in the hands of the fifth generation, since 1996 when winemaker Lucien Guillemet returned after managing Chateau Giscours. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc. There is good ripeness here, crisp fragrant black fruit with a hint of spice. Medium weight of richer fruit with mellow rounded tannins, freshness and overall lovely balance. Stylish and very Margaux.
