Burgundy 2017: CLOS FRANTIN
Owned by the Bichot family, the Domaine du Clos Frantin is their flagship estate, boasting an enviable range of Grands Crus and 1er Crus holdings in Vosne Romanee.
In recent years the quality has been on a steep upward curve as they adapt their approach to better reflect the character of the individual wines and use less new oak.

2017 ECHEZEAUX - £735 per 6x75cl IB - “Dark, dense black fruit on the palate, very fine tannins that require no ageing to weather them. This is out-of-the-box-ready in structure and primary fruit purity, although the complexity will be years in the making." 18+pts Richard Hemming MW
2017 CLOS DE VOUGEOT - £735 per 6x75cl / £750 per 3x150cl IB - “An attractively layered and fresh nose merges aromas of red and dark berries with those of earth, leather and a whiff of spice. There is excellent verve to the equally fresh large-scaled flavors that also possess solid mid-palate density before terminating in a youthfully austere and sneaky long finish that is very firmly structured. Even so, the supporting tannins are finer than usual and overall, this is more refined than it typically is." 91-94pts Allen Meadows
