Tasting Notes

Here the wood is more moderate if by no means invisible as it sets off the overtly spicy and fresh nose that mixes both red and dark berry fruit aromas that display subtle menthol nuances. There is good punch to the supple and fleshy medium weight flavors that evidence plenty of minerality, all wrapped in a solidly persistent and well-layered finale. This should reward 10 to 12 years of cellar time.

Score: 90 - 92

The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Petits Monts, which is more usually blended into the village cru, has a ripe and fleshy bouquet of redcurrant, strawberry pastilles and bay leaf. The palate is sweet and fleshy on the entry: very pure and caressing with silky smooth tannins towards the pleasing finish. It is not the most complex Les Petits Monts, but it is very seductive and well made.

Score: 89 - 91
