Tasting Notes

The 2011 St Joseph Lieu Dit St Joseph continues to drink beautifully and shows the sunny, upfront and sexy nature of this vintage. Kirsch, blackberries, licorce, olive and even some bacon fat give way to a classic, gorgeous St Joseph that's ideal for drinking over the coming decade.

Coming all from granite soils and an early ripening terroir, the 2011 Saint-Joseph Lieu-Dit Saint Joseph is a beautiful, medium-bodied, 100% Syrah blend that gives up notions of sweet and sour cherries, steak tartare, underbrush and crushed stone-like minerality. Scheduled to be bottled at the end of this month (October), it is a classic, gamey effort that will drink nicely for a decade.

This is packed with ganache, roasted alder, steeped plum and blackberry flavors, all coursing through a structured finish, revealing an undercurrent of graphite. Solid. Best from 2016 through 2026. 900 cases made.
