Pichon Lalande's second wine, the 2011 Reserve de la Comtesse offers juicy, cherry, red and black currant notes as well as a medium-bodied, elegant, finesse style. It is already drinking well and should continue to evolve nicely for another decade. Score: 87 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2014-2024 01 April 2014 |

The 2011 Reserve de la Comtesse is higher in alcohol, tipping the scales at 13.2%, which is attributable to the higher Merlot component (49%) blended with 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by attractive, straightforward notes of mocha, roasted herbs, white chocolate and berry fruit. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Score: 86 - 88 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2012-2020 30 April 2012 |

The Reserve de la Comtesse is a blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot and is aged in 30% new oak. It displays good intensity on the nose with blackcurrant, bilberry and a touch of crushed violet. Underneath, there is a hint of freshly tilled soil. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry, hints of dried orange peel inflecting the blackberry and tobacco tinged fruit. It has a supple texture with a sorbet-like finish. Very fine. Tasted April 2012. Score: 89 - 91 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 30 April 2012 |

43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot. Blackish crimson. A mix of ripeness and slight leafiness on the nose and a bit soapy. Pretty sweet fruited on the palate, blackcurrant and plum. Quite simple, lightish tannins, not dry, not terribly long, a bit tart on the finish. (JH) 13% Score: 16 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2015-2022 16 April 2012 |
