Tasting Notes

A seductive 2011, Du Tertre exhibits a dense purple color along with an attractive, fragrant, flowery nose of red and black fruits, licorice and a touch of earth. With good texture, medium body, an excellent finish, and no hard edges, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years.

Score: 88

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2014-2029 01 April 2014

This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot is somewhat closed, with high acidity and noticeable austerity. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple and the wine exhibits notes of damp earth, tobacco leaf, sweet and sour cherries and loamy soil undertones. Drink it over the next decade.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2012-2022 30 April 2012

The du Tertre is a blend of 10% Merlot, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc (a high percentage) picked from 8th to 27th September. I actually left my sample glass to unwind over 10 minutes at it made a huge difference. The nose offers ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, well integrated oak and some lovely orange blossom aromas with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a plush, rounded entry. It has slightly lower acidity than its peers but is very sensual with supple fresh strawberry and raspberry towards the finish. Very fine. Tasted April 2012.

Score: 89 - 91

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 30 April 2012

Well-concentrated blackcurrant fruit, quite rich and slightly earthy, fine clarity of expression and the vigourous fruit will show well.

Score: 16 - 17

Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2015-2025 16 April 2012

Rich ripe nose with hints of mocha, milk cholalate and dark fruits. Very vibrant with layers of soft, rich, velvety fruits. Medium structure with a persistent finish. This is a very well put together and impressive Mouton. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc

Score: 16

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2017-2027 16 April 2012

Modern style, with bolder plum, cassis and raspberry fruit flavors laced with roasted balsam wood and black tea. Nicely polished on the finish.

Score: 88 - 91

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 11 April 2012

This is really well done with soft tannins and berry, cherry and chocolate character. Full body, with round tannins. This year has more Cabernet Franc with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot.

Score: 91 - 92
