Tasting Notes

The purity of fruit in this white is phenomenal. It’s like looking through a thin, perfectly clear crystal. Aromas of sliced apples, lemons, fresh pineapples and lilacs. Full body but perfectly balanced between fruit and acidity. Mineral and intense. Lightly salty and bitter like a peach pit. Electrifying wine. Greatest white ever from here. It lasts for minutes on the palate. 73% sauvignon blanc and 27% sémillon.

This is phenomenal white with an iodine and salty character with dried lemon and papaya with hints of oyster shell. Layered and intense. This is amazing. Full and intense. It goes on for minutes. Can't believe it. Structure of a red wine. This has a little more Sauvignon Blanc from new plantings in the best parcels in the blend than in the past.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 01 April 2012

A blend of 72.9% Semillon and 27.1% Sauvignon, the 2011 has a very strict, focused bouquet with Granny Smith apple, lime zest, lemon rind and a touch of chalk dust. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with an edgy citric thread and than it fans out beautifully towards the very delineated finish. This is a fabulous wine with great precision and length. Tasted April 2012.

Pale lemon gold, white flowers and yellow fruits nose, superb fleshy yet racy flavours, terrific presence, texture, weight and acidity. A great wine.

27.1% Sauvignon Blanc, 72.9% Sémillon. Clear and citrusy on the nose, zesty and aromatic - grapefruit and greengage. A little less intense in the middle perhaps, or maybe it seems so because the attack and finish are powerful. So much spice, it almost feels like spritz. Lovely creamy texture and very rich, hiding the acidity though it is clearly brightly there. A real fine spine down the middle. Really long and so not ready to drink.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2017-2032 13 April 2012

Racy and distinctive, with green plum, kiwifruit, grapefruit and verbena notes all still wrestling with one another, but showing great energy and length. A lovely macadamia nut note lurks in the background, and this has a lot of stretching out to do. Tasted non-blind.
