Good ruby-red. Plum, spicecake, roast coffee, licorice and a loamy nuance on the nose. Supple and sweet, with sneaky intensity of flavor and nicely integrated acidity. A rather suave style of 2007, finishing with fine-grained tannins and subtle persistence.

Another fine effort from this consistently excellent producer, the 2007 d-Aiguilhe is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by sweet black currant, charcoal, roasted herb, and spice box aromas presented in a weighty, medium to full-bodied, surprisingly rich, lush style. It should drink well for 5-6 years or longer.

Blackberry and black licorice aromas follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a long finish. There's great richness and depth to this. One of the region's most consistently good values. Best after 2011. 390 cases made.

Balanced and pretty--surprisingly so for the vintage. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean, fruity finish. Not aggressive. 80 percent Merlot and 20 percent Cabernet Franc.

Fruit and finesse rather than power in 2007. Deep colour, fragrant spice and red berry aromas, layered fruit on the palate with a fresh minerality on the finish. Delicious wine. Drink 2011-2018.

Deep crimson. Ripe nose of cranberries with a hint of jam. Mid-weight and quite open-knit with sweet fruit and notes of asphalt. A plush texture with well-managed tannins and reasonable length.
