Gevrey Chambertin VV 2014

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes from vines over 60-years-old, the most venerable just shy of a century (50% whole bunch and 50% new oak), has a lovely, floral, very pure bouquet that appears to have much more precision than the village cru at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black and red fruit, orange sorbet coming through and defining a citrus-fresh finish. The oak will require several years to be assimilated, but there is persuasive focus and delineation here.
