Tasting Notes

The 2022 Cissac has a punchy, minty bouquet that bursts from the glass. It lacks some complexity, but it has plenty of vigor. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely balanced, with grainy tannins, moderate depth and a touch of black pepper on the finish. Fine.

Score: 89

One to look out for, has great texture, plenty of grip, good rise through the palate, feel that it has life ahead, deep blackcurrant, fresh fig and plum fruits, cocoa bean, liquorice, torrefied, good grip. Marie Vialard owner and director, located in Cissac-Médoc. Gravel over clay-limestone, 26hl/h yield, 25% new oak. One point upscore from En Primeur.

Score: 92

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2036 27 November 2024

This Haut-Médoc stalwart continues its subtle stylistic evolution towards more charm and finesse with the 2022 Cissac, a strong effort evocative of graphite, tobacco, smoke, cassis and violets mingled with well-integrated hints of oak. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, it's classy and vibrant, concluding with a slightly austere finish. This long-lived red is a blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5.5% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec. YC
