(one-third vendange entier): Good dark red. Black cherry aroma complicated by iron and meaty nuances. Sweet and saline on the palate, with a chewy intensity and subtle soil character to the red cherry and mineral flavors. Savory herbs, wild flowers, mint and black fruit all take shape in the 2012 Pommard Les Rugiens. The aromatics are nicely lifted, while there is plenty of vintage 2012 fruit and tannin to fill out the wine's frame. Here it is the wine's balance that impresses most of all.
