Another blockbuster, the opaque ruby/purple 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline exhibits enormous concentration and massiveness yet it remains ethereal with sublime elegance. It offers a floral character (because of the Viognier component) intermixed with notions of blackberries, vanillin, coffee, licorice and sweet, caramelized dark fruits as well as beautiful unctuosity and richness. This exquisite 2010 La Mouline will take a little longer to hit its peak than the 2009, but it should last just as long, possibly even longer (25-30 years). While one expects greatness from La Mouline in vintages such as 2009 and 2010, it is astounding to see what this vineyard and the Guigals were capable of achieving in 2011.
