The equally cool and airy nose is much more floral with ample citrus character on the iodine, tidal pool and algae-suffused aromas that are also trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The medium-bodied flavors are finer if less powerful with a lovely mouth feel that continues onto the intensely saline and mineral-inflected finish that is a really lovely combination of depth, length and finesse. The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montmain has a lifted bouquet with granite and slate-like aromas, a little withdrawn at the moment, but you can tell this will repay 3-4 years in bottle. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, hints of orange rind and lemon zest, good depth in the mouth with fresh pear and quince towards the finish. Impressive, but it will need time.
