Tasting Notes

Othello is the 3rd wine of Dominus Estate, made with organically farmed fruit from the famous Napanook vineyard, from younger vines and fruit that doesn't go into the flagship wine or the second wine Napanook. A hugely enjoyable California Cabernet with a developed Bordeaux-like nose, showing off blackcurrant fruit and complex notes of wood spice, leather and forest fruit and a firm succulent texture. Broad and expansive in the mouth with sweet oak and spiced notes, there is good depth of warm fruit and structure. From a very good vintage for Napa overall and a landmark year for Dominus itself (100 points RP).

Mid-deep ruby. Cinnamon and cedar oak, with chocolate tones and ripe black-cherry fruit. Some slate mineral notes as well. Plush, plum and cassis fruit, with bright acidity. Firm to high, chalky tannins. Noticeable spiciness that becomes burn from the alcohol.

This is a pretty third wine of Dominus, showing freshness and richness at the same time. Full-bodied, juicy and rich with plenty of blackberry and currant character. Delicious now but even better in 2017.
