Medium cherry-red. Perfumed, precise nose shows a mineral pungency to go with the red cherry, raspberry and spice aromas. Sweet, juicy and tightly wound, with more obvious acidity and oak influence than the foregoing samples. This is very suave and subtle-exactly the kind of wine that's overlooked in competitive tastings. Finishes with restrained sweetness and sneaky persistence, with suggestions of vanilla and caramel. This very refined, vibrant wine really calls for five or six years of patience. Score: 91 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 March 2007 |

The ’04 Clos Saint Jacques has a pure, cherry and strawberry-infused nose with beautifully laced new oak that never obscures the fruit intensity. The palate is very well-defined on the entry with vibrant red cherry, wild strawberry and pomegranate notes, though it just lacks a sense of nervosite towards the finish. Moderate length. Beautifully crafted. Drink now-2018. Tasted February 2007. Score: 93 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 February 2007 |
