Deep ruby colour with aromatic depths. Toasted oak, liqourice root, peach pit, tobacco, cocoa bean, blueberry. Delicate, well structured, fingers of peony on the finish, still with the reserve of the vintage that means the texture is less fleshy than in recent vintages of this wine. One to look out for, no need to wait too long, one of the few that I feel has improved over ageing. 50% new oak. Harvest September 23 and 27. The 2021 Les Cruzelles is just as impressive as it was en primeur. The blend is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc very much front and center. Dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, new leather, menthol and licorice race across the palate. Deep and layered, with tons of dynamic energy, the 2021 is impeccably done. The 2021 Les Cruzelles has an attractive nose, the addition of the Cabernet Franc usually used in La Chenade imparting greater complexity: mainly black fruit, tar and graphite, with more red plum and mocha notes percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine-boned entry and good acidity. Harmonious, with admirable weight on the finish endowed with a touch of sour cherry, this constitutes an elegant and poised Les Cruzelles that will mature well in bottle. Score: 91 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2027-2039 22 February 2024 |

65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Outstanding for the year. Lovely, floral notes on the nose and density on the palate. A velvety texture to the plentiful tannins. Full and long from beginning to end. Doesn’t miss a beat. (JL) 13.5% Score: 16+ Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com 16 May 2022 |

The 2021 Les Cruzelles is showing considerable promise, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums, sweet spices, wild berries and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and impressively deep and concentrated, with lively acids and a saline finish, it's a terrific effort and as usual a benchmark for what is possible in Lalande-de-Pomerol. The 2021 is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. Score: 89 - 91 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 29 April 2022 |

The 2021 Château Les Cruzelles comes from a single parcel and is 65% Merlot and 35% Merlot. The parcel is more gravelly clay soils, and the high Cabernet Franc component in the wine gives it a style all its own. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as beautiful cassis fruits and notes of chalky mineral, graphite, and violets, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness and has good acidity, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It's another beautiful wine I'd happily drink any time over the coming 10-12 years. The élevage here is 50% new barrels, and it's not showing a hint of oak.
