Old school, as I found En Primeur, charming but very much on the savoury side, with cloves and black pepper and a kick of leafy blackcurrant fruit. 32hl/h yield, 50% new oak. The last year under the Audoy family, the 2022 will be the first one (partly) under the Cos d'Estournel regime. Axel Marchal consultant for part of the ageing of this, fully from 2022. Recorded blend different from En Primeur. Score: 87 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2038 02 April 2024 |

The 2021 Cos Labory is a potent, rustic wine. Scorched earth, incense, leather and tobacco add to an impression of virile rusticity. Potent, burly tannins reinforce that first impression. The 2021 needs time to come around, but I expect it will always be rather monolithic in bearing. Tasted two times. Score: 90 Antonio Galloni, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2031-2043 27 February 2024 |

The 2021 Cos Labory, matured in 50% new oak, has a simple, light, slightly rustic bouquet with mulberry and briny scents. The palate is slightly coarse on the entry, but there is decent depth and ample freshness. I have no complaints about this Saint-Estèphe, now under the umbrella of Cos d’Estournel, of course. I appreciate the sapidity on the finish, and it will drink well for 10 to 15 years. Score: 89 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2027-2038 22 February 2024 |
