Tasting Notes

Very healthy crimson. Silky, full-bodied with satin texture but with an undertow of extremely thick, rugged, 'masculine' tannins. Not a personal favourite of mine but certainly very distinctive.

Score: 16 - 17

In my report on the 2000 vintage in issue #146 (dated 4-23-03), I forgot to include my review of the 2000 Potensac. It is a beautiful sleeper of the vintage. Rich and concentrated, it may be the finest Potensac since the 1982.

Score: 89

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2004-2011 31 October 2003

Good medium ruby-red. Slightly medicinal aromas of blueberry, dark chocolate and game, with a liqueur-like exotic quality. Tightly wound and penetrating; in a rather brutal stage today, and not showing the lushness or sweetness of the vintage. Finishes firmly tannic, with a note of licorice.

Score: 87

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 May 2003

Firm and well-done, with focused berry and mineral character throughout. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine and sleek tannins and a long, racy finish. From Jean-Hubert Delon of Las Cases. Best after 2006.

Score: 88

James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2006+ 31 March 2003

Blackcurrant and raisin on the nose that has great definition. Robust tannins with attacking acidity. A dense savory finish. A slight dryness at the end - I expected more from this fine property in this great year. Tasted October 2001.

Score: 88 - 90
