Tasting Notes

Les Courtelongs is a north facing vineyard on a limestone downwash mixed with iron oxide. In the spring they get the sun here before the south-facing Les Crays, giving a cool luminosity according to Roger Saumaize. Yellow with some good green tints. Stricter yet still with all the power you could want. Even some greener notes, but ripe, lovely balance all the way through and racy acidity to finish.

Score: 91 - 93

The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs sports a very light reduction on the nose. Touches of struck match, lemon verbena and saffron emerge with time. The palate is smooth and slightly more viscous than the domaine’s other '19. It's very pure with orange pith and peach, light spicy notes gathering pace towards the finish. With very good persistence, this should mature well in bottle.

Score: 92
