Firm reduction also renders the nose largely unreadable. Otherwise there is similar texture to the medium-bodied flavors that are both racy and intense on the stony, refined and moderately powerful finish that is at once better-balanced and more complex. This nicely dry effort is quite firm and a wine that should reward a decade plus of cellaring. Score: 90 - 93 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2029+ 10 June 2021 |

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru has a little more energy and vigor than the Chalumaux, the terroir more expressive by comparison. The palate is well balanced with quite a rich opening; powerful and assertive, this is a Premier Cru that wants to make a statement. Quite spicy toward the finish, it lingers nicely in the mouth. Classy, but I would cellar it for 3-5 years. Score: 91 - 93 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2024-38 01 December 2020 |
