Tasting Notes

Juicy red and black cherries, mulberries, flowery incense, and sandalwood all emerge from the 2019 Château Teyssier, a medium to full-bodied, elegant, juicy, seamless effort that shows the more streamlined, focused style of the vintage. It's loaded with charm and is going to drink brilliantly for at least a decade.

Just about always a great value, the 2019 Château Teyssier reveals a dense purple color as well as a great bouquet of crème de cassis, red plums, unsmoked tobacco, damp earth, and spice. Rounded, medium to full-bodied, and opulent, yet with ripe tannins, it's another wonderful vintage for this cuvée, if not the finest I've tasted.

Score: 91 - 93

From sandy soils on the plain near Monbousquet, the 2019 Teyssier exhibits aromas of raspberries, plums and cherries, framed by creamy oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich but lively, with polished tannins and a ripe core of fruit, it's a fruit-driven, demonstrative Saint-Émilion that will drink well young.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2021 - 2035 07 April 2022

Sappy raspberry fruits, earthy with tight tannins. Easy to drink, no need to wait for this. Great expression of clay-limestone slopes in this estate located just outside of the St Emilion borders.

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2023-2036 09 February 2022

Fragrant redcurrant and raspberry fruits, fairly light in frame, this is easy to drink and supple, gentle smoke through the mid palate, a little short on the finish but full of pleasure.

Score: 89

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2024-2032 26 January 2022

Teyssier does a great job of punching above its weight, and offers excellent value once again. Deep damson in colour, with a spicy start that creates impact, followed by clear berry fruits. This is an enjoyable Teyssier, and although fairly high in alcohol it manages it well, offset by a confident frame.

Score: 89

The 2019 Teyssier features a mixture of well-defined red and blueberry fruit aromas and a touch of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit, light tannins and an easygoing finish. Enjoy this over the next four to five years.

Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2023 - 2027 01 February 2022

The 2019 Teyssier has an attractive, straightforward bouquet of blackcurrant wine gums and touches of blue fruit, later light inkwell aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, just a hint of balsamic tincturing the mixture of red and black fruit towards the finish. Fine.

The 2019 Teyssier (Saint-Émilion) is soft, fruity and easygoing, all of which make it a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Sweet floral and spice notes brighten the finish. As it so often is, Teyssier is a charmer.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2023 - 2031 01 February 2022

The 2019 Teyssier is absolutely gorgeous. Rich, sumptuous and enveloping, the 2019 hits all the right notes. A rush of blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and spice build in a juicy, impeccable Saint-Émilion that hits all the right notes. The 2019 Teyssier has all the ingredients to be one of the real overachievers in this vintage. Sadly, production is down 40% because of frost. In a word: delicious.
