Ruchottes Chambertin 1993

It had been six years since I last had this and it has only gotten better. What was a backward nose is now fully open, indeed there is even a hint of sous-bois to go with the fully mature aromas of secondary fruit, earth, stone, game and truffle. There is a wonderfully elegant mouth feel to the highly complex, intense powerful, pure and robust flavors that offer an intense goût de terroir and terrific length where the deep reserves of sap really coat the palate on the mineral-driven finish. For my taste this has finally arrived at its peak though it should easily hold here for decades as it has only just arrived at the front end of prime time drinkability.
