The cough drop and spice-inflected black fruit aromas flirt with volatile acidity. The rich, bold, powerful and full-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration before culminating in a very firm, rustic and serious finish where a touch of warm emerges. This robust effort is vaguely syrah-like and while it is perfectly good in its fashion, I can't say that it appeals to me. Score: 89 - 92 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2033+ 10 January 2020 |

The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru comes from a mixture of 20- and 80-year-old vines and was cropped low, around 25hl/ha. It has a floral bouquet with pressed rose petals and potpourri almost dominating the red fruit. The medium-bodied palate offers fine tension; you would think there was some stem addition here, but there is none. I like the mineralité and vigor on the finish, which is precise and long in the mouth. Excellent. Score: 91 - 93 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2021-2038 01 January 2020 |
