A more deeply pitched nose reflects notes of dark currant, plum, warm earth and a whisper of the sauvage. There is both good intensity and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that culminate in a mildly austere and rustic but solidly complex and persistent finish. Combining fruit from two lieux-dits on the north side of Nuits-St-Georges - Au Bas de Combe and a single row of Les Barrières - this is wonderfully drinkable stuff from Maxime Cheurlin, expressing the joy, texture and fruit sweetness of the vintage.
