The 2016 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a surprisingly opulent bouquet with kirsch, red berry fruit and a touch of hoisin vying for attention. The palate is medium-bodied with firm and quite bold tannin, a little brawny toward the finish that is missing the finesse of say, the Clos Vougeot or the Echézeaux at the moment. To be honest, I found this a bit below par and a few furlongs below the Clos de Bèze. Score: 87 - 89 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2019-2028 29 December 2017 |
