Tasting Notes

This is fresher though still quite ripe with its restrained nose of freshly turned earth, animale, forest floor and that certain Gevrey character which suffuses the red and dark currant aromas. There is exceptionally good volume and ample richness to the tautly muscular but velvet-textured mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent length on the mildly austere finale. This is still very much a work in progress and I would suggest buying this only if you have the patience to cellar it as it's going to need every bit of 12 to 15 years. Outstanding

Score: 91 - 93

(the yield here was just 14 hectoliters per hectare, according to Confuron): Dark red with ruby tones. Sexy, expressive nose offers scents of sweet red and black cherry, minerals, spices and bitter chocolate. Silky but not thick, conveying an impression of mineral reserve but also compelling sweetness to its sappy crushed cherry fruit. This almost candied wine boasts an exhilarating balance of sweetness and fresh acidity. Finishes very long and firm, with refined tannins.

Score: 92 - 94
