Tasting Notes

Good medium red. Very pure, deep, bright aromas of dark berries, black cherry and licorice. Sweet, sappy and seamless, offering a wonderfully pliant texture for young Clos Vougeot from a structured vintage. Primary dark fruit flavors are accented by herbs and licorice. The very long, mounting finish features firm but well-integrated tannins. Give this one at least five or six years in the cellar.

Score: 93

(from vines next to the wall by Grands-Echézeaux) Here too there is mild reduction that does not completely hide the subtle aromas of red berry fruit, crushed herbs, earth and a hint of the sauvage that continues onto the intense, robust and powerful flavors that are underpinned by relatively fine tannins on the moderately austere, linear and persistent finish of impeccable balance. This is packed with upside potential though note that ample cellar time will be required.
