Tasting Notes

There is a hint of herbal tea present on the equally cool aromas of pear, apple and white flowers. There is a lovely mouth feel to the sleek, focused, detailed and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a saline, citrusy and lightly mineral-inflected finale that delivers both fine depth and length. Good stuff that should drink well young but reward 6 to 8 years of bottle age too. Outstanding

Score: 91

The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Champs Gains has as vibrant, wild mint-tinged bouquet that is not a million miles away in style from the 2014 Meursault Blagny. It is well defined, a little feisty perhaps, not a Meursault that will hold back. The palate is tensile on the entry with fresh green and red apple, pear and nectarine, and just a tingle of white pepper on the front of the tongue that gently unfolds towards the finish. This a flattering Puligny whose elegance might tempt you to open this wine earlier than you should!

Score: 89 - 91
