Tasting Notes

Notes of green apple, spice pear, floral and soft mineral reduction introduce cool, restrained and quite fresh middle weight flavors that display hints of warmth and bitter lemon on the otherwise dry finish. This should drink well young too.

Score: 90

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains felt strict and rather austere on the nose, not quite delivering the personality and charm of the Meursault-Blagny poured just before it. The palate is more expressive with a touch of spice on the entry. Moderate weight in the mouth here and the acidity well judged, it just clams in a little towards the finish. Although it does has the weight to suggest that it will unfold once in bottle and given a couple of years to find its groove.

Score: 88 - 90
