Tasting Notes

In the same fashion as the Meursault-Blagny there is a bit of residual SO2 present that is enough to dominate the nose today. The supple yet reasonably well-delineated middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouth feel along with a subtle minerality that becomes more prominent on the punchy finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. Lovely stuff that should offer good short to medium-term cellaring potential. Sweet spot Outstanding

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières seemed more vivid and vibrant on the nose compared to the 2015 Les Charmes this year, scents of cold stone, hazelnut and smoke gently unfolding in the glass but remaining quite refined in the context of the warm growing season. The palate is perhaps more vintage-driven with a light brush of honey on the entry, touches of almond and walnut coming through with a tensile if slightly clipped finish. This feels a little pinched at the moment but I appreciate the focus and energy conveyed by this Meursault.
