As the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee la Parte des Anges contains so much Mourvèdre (70%) and new oak (80%), I suggest cellaring this a few years before getting into it. Right now, the toasty oak is a bit too prominent. Still, between the ripe fruit and lashings of vanilla, what's not to like? - unless you're a dogmatic traditionalist or hung up on terroir and transparency. Yes, this is modern and maybe a bit international in style, but it tastes freakin' good.

The Mourvèdre dominated 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Part des Anges (70% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah aged mostly in new barrels) is also deep ruby/purple in color. It offers a modern style in its blackberry, toasty oak, espresso and licorice-driven aromatics. Rich, full-bodied, concentrated and structured, with ripe, present tannin, it's another impressive effort from an estate that's unquestionably on the upswing.

The Mourvèdre-dominated cuvée is the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape La Part des Anges, and it includes 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah. Completely destemmed and aged mostly in new oak, it’s a terrific, full-bodied, incredibly concentrated 2015 that has its oak elevage completely covered by notes of black and blue fruits, crushed violets, pepper and earth. Odds are this puppy will close down shortly after releases and need 7-8 years of cellaring. Unquestionably, the quality coming from Domaine Raymond Usseglio is on the uptick.
