This Riserva is sweeter than I remember past editions being and it shows an immediately darker appearance. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a plump, soft, rich and opulent expression with red fruit aromas of cherry, raspberry and cassis. It's not overtly overripe, but it is thickly layered. That softness of fruit is followed by yielding tannins and luscious fruit layers. Altesino has various vineyard plots spread across the four quadrants of the Brunello appellation. A sexy and silky riserva with dried fruit, blueberry and cedar character. Full body, firm tannins and long and gorgeous finish. So linear and precise. Chocolate-covered cherry center palate.
