Angelus

Angelus is situated on a limestone plateau to the west of Saint Emilion, on a steep slope with a perfect southerly aspect. Hubert de Boüard took over from his father in the mid-eighties and has reinvigorated the estate. A former pupil of Emile Peynaud, Hubert de Bouard was one of the first Bordeaux winemakers to adopt techniques such as malolactic fermentation in small barriques. The de Bouard family also own La Fleur de Bouard in Lalande de Pomerol. Angelus remains the crown jewel - an intense, opulent wine that is an undisputed star of its appellation. Rewarded with Premier Cru Classé A status in 2012, setting Angelus firmly amongst the very best of its appellation alongside Cheval Blanc, Ausone & Pavie.
