Opus One
Regarded as a Californian First Growth, Opus One is a stunning Napa Cabernet from Oakville. Established in 1982 as a joint venture between Robert Mondavi & Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Opus One is an exceptionally refined wine with satiny texture, freshness and signature ultra-refined tannins.
A reference point for Napa and has become a collector's blue chip, enjoying huge popularity globally.
In 2022, Opus One embodies the best of the vintage in what was a vintage of contrasts. A mild spring and classically warm Napa summer was then followed by a late-season heat spike that lasted 5 days. The sudden heat was a challenge for some growers, but Opus One was well prepared & began their harvest early (24 August), able to pick quickly & meticulously.
Opus One's deep gravel soils, combined with precision viticulture, helped preserve vibrant fruit & structure, resulting in typically moderate alcohol levels. (Opus One 14%, Overture 13.5%).
